A couple of weekends ago it was my mum's birthday and we had dinner for her at a restaurant near my house and then everyone came back for coffee at our house. At about 10pm when my husband and I were saying goodbyes in the driveway, something caught my eye. I looked up and in the direction of East was a bright cherry red light. It was very big, like looking at the sun, but it was so pretty.
I asked my husband to look up there and he asked me what it was. We saw it pulsating and again like other lights in the past it looked like a sparkler on a birthday cake. Suddenly it moved up in a straight line and wobbled and then moved back down again. Then it did a big wobble, kind of like a spinning top. My husband and I couldn't believe our eyes and we were mesmerized.
My husband went back in but I stayed outside watching this new light. I couldn't believe that no-one had noticed it when we were all in the driveway.
I finally went inside still thinking about the light. The next night I made sure to go out at the same time and it was there again, and again the next night!
The night after that I decided to get the camera ready and went out, only to find the light wasn't there. I felt disappointed and wondered if I had missed a great opportunity.
A few nights later I got an urge to go outside and there it was again. This time I grabbed the camera and started to take some photo's. Amazingly when I zoomed in, it looked orangey yellow and like a big round sun.
While I was watching it through the camera lense it morphed and took on the appearance of three lights, each a different colour. It was so amazing to watch!
From this light it turned into a kind of twisty shape.
Another very strange thing about this light is that when I look at it straight on it is there. But if while looking at it, I move my body to the right or left, it disappears.
From viewing that area in the daytime I can see there are no trees or buildings in the way.
So I decided to experiment with the camera. I stood facing the direction of the light but without it being visible to me and took a photo. The light appeared on the camera, but somewhat different:
Strange hey? It's a multicoloured light, and looks like it's on the move, even though the camera wasn't shaky.
Is this what they call cloaking? How can it not be visible to my eye but show up on the camera? It's very exciting to me but very puzzling.
I'm wondering if this light is in any way related to the Lightship. Or is it something completely different?
This light seems to take a break. It has about 3 nights where it is there, and then another 3 nights when I can't see it. It may in fact be there, but not showing itself to me. Maybe secret light's business I guess!
I'm wondering how long it had been appearing before we first saw it, or if that was the first time. It would be interesting to hear if anyone else has been seeing this light in the South East Metro of Perth. I'd love to hear if you have!
